I'm coolhunting with my cat.

Last Saturday I attended a CoolHunting seminar in Mexico City and it was really fun. I have to admit that I don't usually like (OK, I hate) going to new stuff but this was a good idea. The instuctor, Juan Salazar from the trend agency NovenoEFE, had tons of knowledge to share and I met really good and interesting people. It was worth it for learning and networking.

Since it was a CoolHunting thing I decided to wear a cool thing. So I wore my new ASOS cat sweater that I've been longing to wear. Also, I did an experiment with some braids in my hair that turned out really cool.

I love my new cat.

And I can tell he loves me back.

Braids from the side.

From the back.

If you want to learn more about Juan, the seminar, or Cool Hunting in general (and read Spanish), you should go here and here. And I want to thank Ebbani and Ceci, form CoolHunterMx for everything!

My new friend Paulina, the cat and me.

The Queen is Back

Yes, Blair Waldorf is back. And I know she was never gone, but for this season (the last one) of Gossip Girl, the headbands are back. I must confess that the story is far from what i was in the beginning and that it has NOTHING to do with the books (yes, I read them, ALL of them), but it's one of those shows I started watching and I need to follow 'til the end.

Perfection.

What makes it harder for me is f-ing Serena Van Der Woodsen. I can't stand her or Blake Lively. My hate for her goes as back as The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants time. And yes, I watched the two movies.

OK, so this post is turning into a confessional of all the s***y things I watch and read and that's not the point. The point is to talk about Blair Waldorf, her headbands and her amazing style. All the hate I have for Serena/Blake turns into love when Blair enters the screen. Now Blair is head of a fashion empire and Serena some lady who lunches. Perfect. The thing is I really admire Blair's style because she's super classy but yet daring. I wish I could dress like her.

Pretty outfit, headband and boyfriend included.

The most perfect outfit with the most perfect headband and the most perfect Louboutins ever.

But what I can do is wear headbands because after three seasons or so, she's wearing them again. I have to admit I started wearing headbands when the first season of the show aired and I am more than excited to do it again. But this time it's not so much about huge bows but jeweled pieces like the ones shown at Dolce & Gabanna for FW12. Fortunately, I already have my DIY version. Now I just need Dorotha.

The thousand-dollar (literally) sold-out version.

My version, courtesy of a Refinery29 tutorial.

¿Cómo me quedó?

I just wanna wear sweaters, even if I'm sweating

This fall is all about sweaters, I already ordered what I hope will be my favorite sweater for fall and still I keep seeing more and more options. This onsession came from my (twitter) friend Gina and her blog High on Fashion. I just want EVERYTHING she has (maybe I would style it differently, but seriously I WANT EVERYTHING. But this post with the 3.1 Phillip Lim sweater mixed with a baroque skirt was specially inspiring.

Gina from High on Fashion.

If I could choose any sweater I wanted, it would be these nine (yes, ONLY nine).

Top, left to right: Mulberry, Burberry Prorsum, Jason Wu. / Center: Carven, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel/ Bottom: Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch, Lanvin. Everything from net-a-porter

My (Ultra) Hipster Weekend

I spent this past weekend in my beloved Mexico City. It was great, I saw friends and family and did things I usually don't. But it was a very, very hipster weekend.

You know, you go to Brooklyn and see them, and there were tons in Savannah because SCAD is an art school. But I've never seen so many in one place: hipster dogs, hipster babies, hipster everything... Seriously, where do they come from?! OK, it's not like ther's tons of them, it's just that they are very, very hipsterish.

The thing is, I went to a The XX concert and this kind of market where local designers sell their clothes and accesories. And I do love going to those kinds of things... I was just really surprised.

The concert was amazing. And fashion-wise it was super amusing. I've never seen so many top-knots! OK, ok! I  was wearing a top-knot. Spiked booties were also present... Of course, there were sooo many girls wearing heels thinking they were at a fashion show or something. But in general leggings and skinny jeans (that's what I wore) were the norm.

The XX, amazing!
On Saturday, at the Lonja Mercantil, I saw even more heel-wearing girls. And more top-knots and wayfarers and aviators. There were many pretty girls with short hair, but most had loooong, 'unkempt' hair. But what I found more interesting was what the guys were wearing... I wish I had taken my camera with me, because they were so many cool looking boys with oxfords, booties, cool shirts and sunglasses.

What I wore (by my friend Jaime).

...And pretty rings.

After thinking we had a hipster overdose with all the iPhones and mezcal, my cousin and I decided to go get a drink. We were walking towards Alvaro Obregón (the street with all these restaurants and bars) and found my idea of heaven: a deserted vintage store called Vintage Hoe. I know, I know, it is very hipster to buy vintage but I can't help myself. The thing is, it's super exciting to finally find a store that's cheap and doesn't smell. The dressing room is super small and funny, but who cares when you can find unique clothes at great prices. And the guy who works there is super sweet. I'm clearly in love with this place.

And tons of pretty vintage!

In general, it was an amazing weekend... And I can't wait to move to Mexico City and be a unwilling hipster.
