What I Want Today: Bracelets, Bracelets, and more Bracelets!

Although I do not consider myself a ManRepeller, I have to admit that I wish I was as adventurous as Leandra Medine (she's crazy and funny, and often annoying, follow her on Twitter, @manrepeller). And while I lack the guts and budget to dress as crazy as she does, I can do the whole "Arm Party" thing.

Actually, I'm becoming quite obssesive about not leaving the house without at least four bracelets and a watch. And while looking for new options I came across L-Atitude, an online shop that has items from all around the world. Their selection of bracelets is big and has different styles. These are my favorites.
GRAND BAZAAR, Black Evil Eye Bracelet Set at ShopLatitude.
HOLST + LEE, Electric Cactus Bracelet at ShopLatitude.
ORGANIC PEROXIDE, Bondi Beach Bracelet & Choker at ShopLatitude.
What do you think about the whole "arm party" trend?

Fashion is/as art (part 3).

Me.
It's been a month since I came back from my (most-fashionable-ever) trip to NYC. I've been too busy trying to adapt to what I call my "in-between-life". But I must not abandon my blog... Especially since it's one of the few things keeping me sane.

Top Row: Ralph Lauren; Martin Margiela; Raf Simons for Jil Sander. Middle Row: Christian Dior; Charles James; Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein. Bottom Row: Adrian; Akrin, Oscar de la Renta for Balmain.

So, to continue with my art/fashion series I write today about the Fashion, A-Z: Highlights from the Collection of the Museum at FIT, Part Two exhibition I had the chance to see. Unfortunately, there were no pictures allowed. Which really is a shame because not only the garments were beautiful, but the way they were set up was too.

I was lucky to find a few images online of two of my favorite pieces (there were too many) to share:

Both are Valentino, but my favorite is the white dress with mini black flowers and ribbon.
Since I couldn't see the McQueen exhibition last year, this was amazing. Specially because this was my favorite collection of his, Plato's Atlantis.
If you happen to be in NYC before November 10 and like fashion, you should definitely check it out. It's really beautiful. But if you can't, you can always visit the FIT's online museum here, it's pretty cool too... Enjoy!

Fashion Fairy Tale Memoirs

I love stories and books. Ever since I was little, my mom had to make changes to the stories because I already knew them by heart and wanted something new and different. Well, this fairy tale memoirs are exactly what I've been waiting for.

Camilla Morton is the writer of these fairy tales with a fashionable twist. “It all started when I was trying to explain my job to my godson,” Morton told the New York Times. “And, I realized when you watch a couture show come together — the drama, the glamour — you literally see magic.”
One of my favorite fairy tales is definitely Sleeping Beauty, probably because I love sleeping. But in this book it's even better because fashion editors play the role of magical god-fairies and Christian Lacroix is the Prince who gives the Princess the dress she always deserved.

The other book is Manholo Blanhnik and The Tale of the Elves and the Shoemaker. I had the chance to see an exhibiton of his work, the blue shoes SJP wore in the Sex and the City Movie, and attend a talk between him and André Leon Talley at SCAD and Mr. Blahnik is a darling man. He is truly dedicated to his shoes, just like a magic shoemaker.

Blahnik's illustrations are beautiful, I propably enjoyed seeing the sketches more than the actual shoes... Maybe because I can't afford the real thing. But I really do think that the drawings are a work of art and would love to have the book at home and see the illustrations whenever I want.

So far, only these two have been publised. But while doing research I found other similar books. I hope they make more because when/if I have a daughter, these are the stories I'll read to her.
