What I Want Today: Juicy Couture Creature Bangles

It seems like, yes, I still love creatures. I keep finding them, and falling in love with them, everywhere. This time, looking for a retro swimsuit, I found these bangles in the Juicy Couture site. I think my favorite is the one with the elephants... Which one is yours?

You can buy them all here.

My Best Friend's Wedding

It finally happened. After years of wondering who and when... One of my best friend's getting married. I'm excited. I can't believe it. Sometimes when I see the ring in her hand I still feel weird. But most of all, I'm happy because she's happy.

I'm super excited about the wedding, the party, the Vegas trip. But (not-so) secretly I'm more excited to see what she's wearing. And I'm suuuuper happy because she told me she doesn't want a strapless dress. I know she will look beautiful in anything, I just think the strapless thing has been done to death. No offense.

Of course, if you read this blog you know I love vintage and vintage inspired clothes. Well, for wedding dresses it's no exception. You may also know of my Net-A-Porter obsession. And their wedding site is beautiful too. Anyway, I know it's not, but if it was up to me I would choose a dress for her. And I chose these Net-A-Porter options just for fun.

A beautiful and super original Antonio Berardi. I like how unusual it is.

I love this Victoria Beckham dress because it's super elegant without being over the top. I really like the detail at the waist and that it isn't naked AT ALL.

This is probably my favorite. A crazy Matthew Williamson, amazing in the front and the back.

And finally, if it was me (it's not going to for a long time) I would probably choose something by Temperley London. I'm in love with their dresses and it's one of Kate Middleton's favorites. And VERY vintage-inspired. I hope they still make them in 2037 which is when I will probably get married.

Fashion is/as art (part 2).

One of the last fashion related things I did at SCAD was the Ralph Rucci exhibition at the SCAD Museum of Art on May.

The thing is, I didn't know much about him before this. But I'm happy I do now. The designs exhibited on the museum are beautiful and extremely well done. It's no surprise he's the only American designer that has been invited to show haute couture in Paris.

One of my favorites... I love the detail.

Almost everything in B&W, lovely...

But, of course, some pink.
And I think, as writer and not designer, the best part was the conversation between him, André Leon Talley and Pullitzer Proze winning fashion journalist Rovin Givhan. They spoke about different aspects of fashion, as business and as art... And how he finally decided to take a partner because the businnes side was interfering with the creative side. But my favorite part? The Kim Kardashian bashing. I really, really dislike her and loved that Rucci said he would never dress her because he has integrity. Unlike her.

During the conversation. I stole this pic from my friend Allison.
The fashion talks and exhibitions are something I'm really going to miss about SCAD. But this was great closure.

*Stupidly, I didn't take any pictures so I got all these from this Glamour article.

What I Want Today: An iPhone with Camels on it!

OK, first of all, I need an iPhone. Of course, I can't get one now because my unemployment. But once I fix that (soon, I hope) I'll get it and this Kate Spade case.

Who wouldn't want an iPhone with camels on it? And, remember, my birthday's coming!

Fashion is/as art (part 1).

I tend to get into discussions about fashion being art. I hate when people say it's not without giving any thought to it. It is even one of the themes in the "Impossible Conversations" between Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli in the Met exhibition. Schiaparelli thinks fashion is art, Prada doesn't. It's one of those discussions that I rather not have anymore, because I always end up upset. So while this issue is settled by someone else, I will be reviewing the fashion exhibitions (in museums!) I've seen this summer.

Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations
The clothes are beautiful, although I really wanted to see the lobster dress Schiaparelli designed with Salvador Dalí, but the conversations are also super interesting. I also found it very interesting that there were not as many people as in the McQueen exhibition last year. I guess people are not really interested in fashion unless the designer has a tragic ending.

 The Schiaparelli lobster dress.

The lobster dress Miuccia Prada designed for Anna Wintour to wear at the Met gala. Which lobster dress do you prefer?

The exhibition is divided in themes like 'The Exotic Body' or 'Naïf Chic'. Each section has a video where the two designers discuss the themes. It's curated beautifully, and of course no pictures were allowed at the exhibit but I found some good ones online.

The clothes from the exhibit worn by models for Vogue Magazine.

The Exotic Body
Ugly Chic
Naïf Chic (maybe my favorite section, full of creatures)
My favorite impossible conversation is "Hard Chic" because I agree with the idea of woman they describe, watch it below. And you can watch all the conversation videos, directed by Baz Luhrmann, here.

CHANEL's LBJ

At the entrance to the exhibition... I was so excited I wanted to cry.

Sometimes you're just in the right place at the right time. Going to NYC on a post-grad vacation, I was not expecting to see a CHANEL exhibition. So it was a huge surprise for me, while on Twitter, that I would be able to see the exhibition accompanying the book "The Little Black Jacket". And I was really, really lucky... Because it was a one-week-only exhibition.

Carine Roitfeld channeling Madmoiselle Coco next to Anna Wintour's back.

A pregnant Charlotte Gainsbourg. Perfect.

The show is incredible, really small, but incredible. I'm a huge fan of Coco and Uncle Karl, so this was really breathtaking. The girls working at the gallery wore beautiful CHANEL clothes and shoes, and they were super nice. The best part? You get to take a huge poster home. Vanessa Paradis shot in b&w by Karl Lagerfeld will be hanging in my future room.

I'm not a fan of Yoko Ono, but these pictures are incredibly cool.
I'm still learning how to use my new camera, but I hope you like the pics!

And finally me again...

...and my mom.

My most important outfit of the year.

I know I haven't been writing enough... But it has been a crazy time with Graduation and everything. Right now I'm in New York and I'm so excited because I have so many ideas for outfits and writing.

But today I want to share an important, but not pretty, outfit. The one I wore to my master's graduation.

With my parents.

With my friend Allison, under the costume I was wearing a Jason Wu for Target dress.

And with my cousin Judy.

I know it's not my prettiest outfit, but it's kind of a big deal to graduate. Wish me luck in my future writing career!
