I want. I hate.
What defines me... in no particular order.

Printed Emotions
I love writing online... I was talking about this with a friend from work (sounds super weird to say a friend from work), saying it's exciting to see things instantly and to know how many people have read you. But to see your name on print? That's an entirely different emotion. My first printed article came out in October, but just now I had the time to have it as an image and show you... You really have no idea how exciting it is to see your name printed for the first time!
I'll be uploading more of my articles and if you speak Spanish you can read the complete magazine here... Enjoy! (If you don't speak Spanish, then just look at the pretty pictures.)

Elaine Benes, an unlikely fashion icon
![]() |
| Kramer, Elaine, George & Jerry |
If you ask me what my favorite TV show of all times is you may be surprised that as a "fashionista" is not Sex and the City, or Gossip Girl, or... The O.C. or whatever. Nop, it's not Friends either. God forbid. Don't get me wrong, I love Carrie and Blair and Summer –I even loved Rachel at some point– but there's nothing, I repeat NOTHING, like Seinfeld. And for all of you who think the show has nothing to do with fashion, think again.
OK, it's not really about fashion. But it had amazing fashion choices. The costume design was flawless. Each of the characters reflected who they were with their clothes: Kramer's loud shirts, George's checked shirts with white t-shirts under them, Jerry's denim everything and white sneakers.
But Elaine was the best, she was so 90s. Amazing: floral dresses, masculine suits, black shoes with white socks. And a lot, I mean A LOT, of vests. Also, I find her hair choices really inspiring. She did everything: short, long, braids, curly, straight... You name it.

And this BuzzFeed article explains everything anbout how is not only her fashion but her EVERYTHING, that makes me wanna be like her. Sort of. She even worked in publishing and a J.Crew-style catalog! Writing, editing and fashion? Sounds like me... I also LOVE that she hated "The English Patient" the way I hated "The Illusionist". Hating a movie eeeeveryone loves? Very me.
Anyway, Elaine was so crazy with her choices and quirks (the way she danced!) so authentic that she is an absolut icon for me.

I want to be her! (Seriously)
Sometimes you find a book that reads like your own story. Most times such book is a novel about a boy who is a wizard and has a dorky friend and you think you are that boy's friend with a weird name and bushy hair. OK, not really. But, this time it's something much more real for me.
Last year I got the memoir/style book I want to be her! by Andrea Linett, and seriously it's like I wrote it. Not only because the author's name is my name too, but because her life is super similar to mine. OK, it's more like I want my life to be like hers... But who cares?

The other thing I really enjoyed while reading the book, were the super pretty illustrations by Linett's BFF, Anne Johnston Albert. These, along with the bullet points and quotes make for a really light reading. Like I said, I read the whole thing in 5 hours. And if you don't fell like reading, you can visit her website. But the book is better, I swear.
She is now at Michael Kors and has an awesome life (see for yourself), and she's a book author sooo.... I feel really identified with her and I'm definitely planning on following her advice, both fashion and career-wise... Because, of course, I want to be (like) her.

10 reasons 2012 didn't suck that much
This year has been really hard for me, definitely not my best but still amazing... Here are some of the reasons 2012 didn't suck that much.
- This was tough because #2 was almost #1, but I have to say that getting my MFA was the best thing that happened this year. My dad would kill me if it wasn't.
- The Pulp concert in Mexico City with some of my most favorite people in the whole world. You know who you are.
- To see my name published on a printed magazine was beyond exciting/cool/unreal.
- Finally having (semi) real jobs that I love, love, love.
- My trip to NYC with my parents. Specially getting to see the Chanel, Prada/Schiaparelli and FIT exhibits.
- My new Twitter friends like Gina from High on Fashion and BoticaPop. Twitter's weird.
- Being able to visit ELLE Mexico. It gave me so much perspective on what I want to do with my life.
- Living in the same city with my cousin was both fun and weird. My last six months living in Savannah were something else.
- Finding a truly amazing vintage store in Mexico City (with my other cousin).
- And in general being (again, a semi) adult with responsibilities and not being able to go on vacation. I know it sounds kind of weird but it means something for me.

My outrageous, crazy, un-real holiday wishlist!
What kind of fashion fan/shopaholic would I be if I didn't have a wishlist? Don't worry, I'm a good one... This list took a long time to be created and it is REALLY well thought. (It includes creatures, in case you were wondering.)
First of all, if I had to choose just one gift and forget the others: the Charlotte Olympia cat slippers, I am crazy, obsessed and absolutely in love with these shoes. Even if I had them I don't know if I could wear them because I love them sooo much and wouldn't want them to get dirty. The black ones are my favorite pair but I also want the glitter AND the leopard-print-ones... AND, since we're daydreaming I'll take the silk red ones, too.
The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde: what can I say? Ilove his quotes, he's a genius and the book cover is just amazing.
Grace, A Memoir is a memoir written by one of my role models, Grace Coddington the creative mind behind Vogue magazine. A true genius. At BookMarc you can get it signed for only $35. Just saying...
A Céline purse. Do I really need to explain?

My mom and I are just totally in love with this MiuMiu dress. I just adore the colors and the collar, super lady-like and playful at the same time.
Chanel Set of 3 books and/or the Little Black Jacket book... and a Chanel LBJ to go with it.The three volumes include Chanel; Chanel Jewellery; and Chanel Perfume. The Little Black Jacket Book features the same pics I went to see this summer while in New York, as you may recall. Or not. Anyway, a perfect gift for me.
MiuMiu studded suede sneakers... MiuMiu is one of my favorite brands ever and I love this pair of sneakers because they have some glam studs and are totally neutral.
This Tibi Lobster Sweater is just very me, don't you think?
I know the list is quite long (and expensive), I just got really excited. And I know I'm kind of late for Santa, but I don't mind if he hits the sales and gets me my gifts in January. I hope you had an amazing Christmas! I sure did.
