LA GACETA DE EL PALACIO DE HIERRO – EDITOR IN CHIEF

I'm the editor for La Gaceta, a magazine by department store El Palacio de Hierro. Although I work for Grupo Expansion, my day to day consists of working together with the creative team at El Palacio, as well as their business partners and marketing managers in the creation of content, both organic editorial and payed by brands and agencies. I manage a multidisciplinary team which includes junior editors, designers, fact-checkers, external writers, PRs and more. The main focus of the position is to create joint editorial content (for the magazine and store display as well) keeping the institutional voice.
• Working with the team to create an editorial concept while using the materials and petitions from the marketing teams at El Palacio
• Creating calendars and work flows, as well as each issue’s story list and assigning sections to each of the junior editors and writers
• Writing, editing and checking texts and articles
• Make changes requested by the client, make sure every product credit is correct
• Reviewing the final product before it goes to print
• Make sure all materials (photos, PDFs, etc.) are delivered to the client
*Besides doing this for each monthly issue, I also coordinate at least four commercial supplements each year: from getting and filtering materials from the brands to creating the content aligning to brand tone and delivering a final product that is satisfactory for both the brands and El Palacio
