I just wanna wear sweaters, even if I'm sweating

This fall is all about sweaters, I already ordered what I hope will be my favorite sweater for fall and still I keep seeing more and more options. This onsession came from my (twitter) friend Gina and her blog High on Fashion. I just want EVERYTHING she has (maybe I would style it differently, but seriously I WANT EVERYTHING. But this post with the 3.1 Phillip Lim sweater mixed with a baroque skirt was specially inspiring.

Recomiendo ampliamente su blog, de verdad estoy enamorada de todo su clóset.

Dress Madness!

When I was little I would only wear dresses, my mom would beg me to wear pants and I wouldn't. Ever. Then puberty hit me and I hated dresses for like 10 years. And then... Madness happened.

Something happened when I moved to a place with real weather. When I moved to Savannah, I realized there were more seasons than semi-hot and semi-cold like in Mexico. I realized I COULD NOT wear pants in the Summer. So I started shopping, shopping, shopping.

So while I get a job where I can wear all my babies, I'll parade them here. Anything you ask, I probably got it. Polka dots? Got it. Denim? Got it. Vintage, new, unworn... There's a lot in my closet. Here you have some of them.

Cuando era chiquita, solamente usaba vestidos, mi mamá me rogaba usar pantalones para que estuviera más comoda pero nunca lo hubiera hecho. Entonces me llegó la pubertad y cambié a pantalones, durante yo creo que 10 años no me puse un vestido. Y de repente, enloquecí.

Todo cambió cuando me mudé a Savannah, donde en realidad hay estaciones, no como en México que hay solamente dos estaciones. Una donde medio hace calor y otra donde medio hace frío. Me di cuenta de que era realmente imposible usar pantalones en el verano, empezando porque no me subían. Fue entonces cuando empecé a comprar, comprar, comprar.

Pero bueno, mientras consigo un empleo donde pueda usar mis vestidos todos los días, se los presumo aquí. Lo que se les ocurra, probablemente lo tengo. De puntos, flores, mezclilla. Nuevo, vintage, sin usar. 

Y bueno, le dedico este post a mi amiga Cecilia que quiere que haga un inventario de toda mi ropa. La verdad es que me da flojera, y miedo descubrir mi grado de locura, para hacerlo. Pero quizá algún día.

Think Pink!

Yesterday while (still) writing my thesis I came upon the color called "Mexican Pink", 'invented' by Mexican fashion designer from the fifites Ramón Valdiosera. Of course, pink is my favorite color so after this and the "Think Pink" scene in Funny Face, I knew I had to do a post on it.

As I told you, last weekend I went to an Audrey Hepburn movie marathon. One of the three movies was Funny Face. In one of the first scenes, Quality magazine editor, Regina George, sings about the color when she decides that the next issue needs to be all pink. Think Pink! has beautiful images (see them for yourself below). And so I decided that she's exactly the kind of editor I want to be some day. Probably without the singing.

And then Refinery29 compared Anna Wintour to Regina George (I always get super excited when I get a reference to something) because she supposedly made all Vogue editors wear pink to the Met Gala, which was yesterday. And, which by the way, was co-hosted by one of my favorites: Carey Mulligan.

But back to pink, Schiaparelli Shocking Pink, that is. The reason Wintour (supposedly) made her editors do this is the fact that the gala honors Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada's exhibition: Impossible Conversations. Schiaparelli's favorite color was, drumroll please, pink. Shocking Pink, to be exact. So there you go.

There were some pink moments at last night's gala. This are my favorite. (Besides all the photographers yelling, that was the best part of the live streaming).

Model Coco Rocha with pink hair (I need to try this again), nails, and shoes. The jumpsuit is vintage Givenchy and was worn by Elizabeth Taylor, and bought at an auction.

Emily Blunt (who I've loved ever since The Devil Wears Prada) in Calvin Klein with husband John Krasinski. And SJP's dress.

Lena Dunham, of the HBO show Girls, wearing beatufil pink shoes. I love that she didn't go pink all the way but had this detail. And so did Mr. Hamish Bowles (Vogue editor-at-large) with the jacket and socks.

And my best dressed award has to go to Karlie Kloss in Jason Wu. By now you probably know how much I love him but this dress is just too beautiful for words. It's definitely my favorite. 

Please know that I'm now taking donations so that next year I can pay the $25,000 ticket to attend. Meanwhile, think pink!

Collaborate to Get Collaborations

I've read enough about how crazy people get when going to Target to get some of their designer collaborations. So far, I've been only to Missoni in September and Jason Wu last Sunday. Jason Wu was even crazier, maybe because I was in DC instead of Savannah (which has two Targets, and even today, Thursday, they still had a LOT of stuff)... But yes, it was crazy. And no, this post isn't about that.


I fell in love a couple of years ago with the dress Wu designed for Michelle Obama in her husband's inauguration ball, but of course I could NEVER buy anything from his collection. So I was really excited to hear about the Target thing.


And then I fell in love with Milu the cat. I loved what Jason Wu (you can see his main collection here, and let me say I love the owl as well) cited as the inspiration for this collection: the cat itself and French film noir heroins, as well as an idea of an American girl in Paris. Here you can see the short ad, which I've seen a thousand times and still love.



OK, so yes, I did go to Target at 8 in the morning... But I didn't fight, even though I wanted to. Yes, I'm talking to you, "you need to let go" b*!ch. But karma will get this people who bully innocent shoppers like me. Also, I really wanted the Milu t-shirt but I restrained myself from getting it from e-bay (I won't even link to them) because I don't want to give those people any money. And from what I've been reading, I'm not the only one. I hope they end up returning most of it because no one wants to buy from them.

Seriously, I loved almost everything, it was like the collection was designed just for me. My first batch, in D.C., I got thanks to three very smart girls who got there at 6:30 a.m. and went togehter to achieve their goal. And everything they didn't want I got, then I ordered some online (which hasn't come yet) and finally I went to one of the stores in Savannah. The pictures below are just some of the (many) items I got...

So I put together some tips if you ever feel the need to go to one of this madness:

1. Go with a friend, it's even better if you don't wear the same size so you don't fight. If you can't, bring a boyfriend or your mom, or anyone that can help you. DO NOT GO BY YOURSELF.
   
2. Wear just leggings and a tank top so you can try everything without taking your clothes off since they only let you try three things at a time.
3. Know ahead of time what you would like to get, but don't limit your options. Some things look better in pictures that they actually are.
4. Go for the accessory wall first. You don't have to try them on and they're usually cheaper.
   

Anyway, I hope this helps you sometime... I want to post pictures of what I got but my camera is not working. Somehow I will try to post some pictures of my outfits that include the Jason Wu pieces. And again, thank you Jason Wu and Target for this!
